A Training on Learning Through Interactive Digital Media
More Than 130 Vice-Principals, Heads of Department and teachers from the Ministry Of Education will get tips from Mr John Sanders, Head of Production Resources, Lucasfilm Animation Company, Singapore, on how to teach using Interactive Digital Media (IDM). The seminar will be held at 2.30 pm on Tuesday, 28 August 07, at Auditorium 2 of Temasek Polytechnic.
Temasek Polytechnic will also announce the launch of the Specialist Diploma in Interactive Edutainment which will see its first run in January 2008. This course is designed to equip educators with the skills to develop engaging teaching environments and materials for students. The objective is to transform classrooms so that students learn in digital environments that they are familiar with.
Teachers from Pasir Ris and Canberra Primary Schools who have worked with Temasek Information Technology School on interactive edutainment projects will showcase what they have created and successfully used to engage learners. Temasek Information Technology School will also share how it is using virtual environments like Second Life to teach subjects like Introduction to Computer Games. In addition, it will showcase how their own students have created a virtual environment that is stimulating and familiar where they can meet tutors and work on assignments.
'Engage to Educate' is organised by Temasek Polytechnic and supported by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).
