Press Release Date: 04 Nov 09
On November 7, 64 students from Temasek Polytechnic (TP) involved in project Bright Up Our Lives will change 2,000 light bulbs for eight blocks of rental flats! They will replace the old light bulbs in the one- and two-room households with new, energy saving light bulbs. Through this, it could help these low-income households save up to a total of $30,000 in electricity bills per annum.
These students from TP’s Green Interest Group are doing the project in collaboration with South East Community Development Council (CDC) and sponsored by Philips Electronics Singapore Pte Ltd to give back to the community. The Green Interest Group was officially started in TP this year to increase awareness of environmental issues among students. The Bright Up Our Lives programme was launched in November 2008 to encourage the community to do their part in environmental sustainability.
