Young Innovators @ TP - 90 Student Inventions at Engineering Project Show 2007
A Bladeless Ceiling Fan, an Air-Conditioned Ergo Chair, a Topless Table, a Paper Multiplier which instantly turns used paper into hand towels, a space-saving Bicycle Parking System and an Automated Ramp for the MRT are just some of the 90 student inventions by final-year Temasek Engineering School students. The innovations which include community-related projects, as well as those carried out in collaboration with industries and institutions, will be exhibited at TP’s Engineering Project Show. The 3-day exhibition will be on from Thursday, 18 Jan to Saturday, 20 Jan at the Temasek Convention Centre. The event is part of Temasek Polytechnic’s Open House highlights.
Also among the inventions is a Diet Watcher which has been developed in collaboration with the Health Promotion Board. This handphone application has been pre-programmed with a comprehensive list of local food items. Users just need to select what they eat and input it into their handphone. The program will display the calorie count of the food. In addition, users can key in their height and weight, and the program is able to calculate and display their BMI, the recommended calorie intake, as well as evaluate whether one has exceeded that recommended intake.
Mr. Eu Pui Sun, Managing Director, Senoko Energy Supply Pte Ltd will be Guest-of-Honour at the opening of the Engineering Project Show.
