Some outstanding major projects on display by students from the Diploma in Visual Communication, deal with social and community issues like sex education, the predicaments of the Visually Handicapped and the common misconceptions and labeling of people with mental illness. Also among the projects are works by students from the Diploma in Interior Architecture and Design among who are students who won the top three prizes at the 2006 Asia Pacific Interior Design Biennial Award.
Visitors to the graduating show will also be treated to a Fashion Show on Friday, 2 March at 12.30pm, where works of graduating students from the Apparel Design & Merchandising diploma will take to the catwalk! One highlight is a joint venture into the fashion retail business in Vivo City by students specialising in apparel design, visual merchandising and international merchandising. Their collection, ‘Elysium’, is resort wear which derives its design inspiration from local arts like batik prints and crochet work, introducing a whole new concept of wearing souvenirs as apparels!
With the world as their classroom, some of these graduating students went as far as to China, India, Cambodia, Philippines, Australia, USA and France, interning in different lands, absorbing different styles and different cultures, returning the richer. Now they are ready to showcase their works!
