Student groups from the School of Design’s Digital Film & Television course won three out of four available awards in the recent 18th Digicon 6 Asia Singapore Awards. The nation-wide competition was open to young film-makers who work with digital video.
The alumni group led by director Siti Rahimah Binte Mohamed Idris won the Gold Award for their final-year project Vengeance Is Mine. They will go on to compete in Tokyo with other international short films.
Silver award went to another group from the Digital Film & Television course with the project titled “Post-Mortem”.
The Audience Choice Award was taken by a group of second-year students with their project “I Am Keluak”, an engaging short film that traced the Peranakan food heritage of Marine Parade. The film was shot last year when the students were in their first year as part of a project with the Marine Parade Constituency.
In taking 3 out of 4 awards, the Digital Film & Television students are proving themselves to be strong story-tellers and film-makers in their own right, ready to make their mark in the film and media industry here in Singapore and overseas.
