The Internet of Things (IoT) is seen as the next big thing to influence the world and people’s lives in a significant way. The Specialist Diploma in Smart Solutions is a one year Earn and Learn programme targeted primarily at diploma graduates who want to deepen their skills in developing smart solutions by leveraging on IoT technologies. With Singapore’s Smart Nation drive, there is a huge demand for graduates with skillsets in this area. Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents who are fresh Polytechnic graduates from relevant full-time IT/technology-related courses of study.

The Earn and Learn Programme is scheduled to commence in October 2017.
Participants will undergo a 12-month structured training programme, including facilitated learning, e-learning, professional certification, and on-the-job training. Face to face lessons will be conducted in blocks of weeks over two 15-week semesters within the 12-month period.

IoT Application Development
In this subject, students will learn how to create their own sensor devices using Arduino or Raspberry Pi kits. Students will build companion apps to monitor and record the sensor activities and control them from mobile devices. Topics covered include sensors and effectors, programmable hardware creation and network connectivity. |

IoT Security
This subject covers methods to secure IoT applications and architectures. It will also cover privacy issues pertaining to IoT devices and solutions. Topics covered include design methods for IoT application security, privacy and anonymisation techniques in IoT and sources of risk across IoT architectures. |

This subject equips students with the knowledge and skills to create, assemble, manage and secure web application programming interfaces (API). Students will learn how to use APIs to connect multiple IoT devices and the data they provide through their APIs to execute smart actions. Smart Solutions Project (Delivered via On-The-Job Training)
This subject aims to provide students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the course to a project. Students would be required to work in teams, to present and demonstrate their smart IoT solutions and products. |

Eligibility Criteria for ELP ICT
Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of either graduation from the polytechnics or the Operationally Ready Date (ORD) for National Servicemen from relevant full-time IT/technology-related courses of study are eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for ELP Sign-on Incentive
Only for Singapore Citizens who are Polytechnic graduates hired by participating companies and officially commenced ELP within 3 years of graduation or ORD.
