Admissions

Have you found the right diploma course yet? If you're not too sure about admissions requirements for our courses, and how to apply, go to TP Admissions webpage to find out more. To help you along, we've got some important tips that you should keep in mind before you put in your JAE application.

Five Tips for Polytechnic Application

  1. Whatever course you pick, you must meet the Minimum Entry Requirements (MERs). You can find out what these are from our website, www.tp.edu.sg, and all our course write-ups (e.g prospectus, brochures).
  2.
  3. Cut-off points (COP) are only a guide. They are the nett aggregate score (after deducting CCA bonus points) of the last student posted to the course. So the COP for a course offered in the 2011 JAE may not be the same as the year before. But it is still a good indicator of how popular a course was in the previous JAE. You can find the full list of 2011 COPs for TP courses at www.tp.edu.sg/home/admissions.
  4.
  5. Follow your heart, but also be practical. You have 12 options on the JAE application form. Your first few choices should reflect the fields you are passionate about. Because competition can be very stiff for some of these courses, the rest of your choices should include courses that you can qualify for, taking into account the previous year's COP for these courses.
  6.
  7. Use up your choices – you have 12 of them. We can't emphasise this enough. Even if you are very confident of getting into the course of your choice. You never know – competition for places can be unpredictable.
  8.
  9. Get the right information, from the right source. Come to TP during JAE to speak with our course advisors, before deciding which course to choose. You can also chat with our alumni online about TP's courses and life at TP from 5 – 12 January 2012 (9.30am to 1am) and 13 January 2012 (9.30am - 4pm) by logging on to our website at www.tp.edu.sg.
