Heung Cheuk Fan
Diploma in Aerospace Electronics,
School of Engineering
Why TP?TP is the only polytechnic in Singapore that provides students with a unique attachment programme with Lufthansa Technical Training(LTT) Centre, a renowned aircraft training organisation recognised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) for Aerospace courses. This is a relevant experience that prepares me for the future careers that I want to pursue. Through the attachment programme, I am able to have hands-on experience related to aircraft structural repair as well as avionic wirings. This unique programme will definitely equip me with the necessary skills that are required in the industry.
My TP Experience
TP provides a good balance of fun and studies. With camps and educational overseas trips, I am able to meet new friends not only from the School of Engineering but also the other schools in TP. TP’s lecturers are experienced and approachable too, they always give their very best to help the students.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
I realised that many of my peers and I struggled during the ‘O’ levels and some of my friends did not qualify to enter a polytechnic even though they had passed ‘N’ level examinations. Furthermore, majority of my peers, myself included, prefer hands-on activities rather than just studying and this is what TP culture is like. My advice is, do not waste this great opportunity. Go for it and be ahead of all your secondary school classmates!
Foo Jia Ling
Diploma in Baking & Culinary Science,
School of Applied Science
Why TP
Temasek Polytechnic is the only polytechnic that offers a Diploma in Baking & Culinary Science. This is a learning platform for me to expand my field of interest in the area of food science and culinary skills. In addition, TP provides fantastic learning facilities to prepare me well and equip me with a wide range of skills to get my dream job!
My TP Experience
So far my most memorable experience in TP was during my days in the kitchen, where I had to chance to learn from some of the top chefs from renowned hotels. TP also feels like a second home to me as the lecturers and chefs here are warm and helpful, and I can approach them when I face any problems. Their advice and guidance has made me ever more determined to excel in my diploma.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
PFP is definitely a great opportunity for passionate students whom want to have a head start in pursuing their dreams. Students will definitely benefit from this one year prep course as they will learn how to effectively handle the three years of polytechnic life in advance.
Tan Qiu Fang
Diploma in Gerontological Management Studies,
School of Humanities & Social Sciences
WHY TP
Well, Temasek Polytechnic has provided a conducive environment for both work and play. The vibrant culture of TP has brought much joy into my life. In addition, my lecturers are very caring and fun-loving!
My TP Experience
My days in TP have been filled joy and laughter. My course, Diploma in Gerontological Management Studies (GEMs) has helped me to understand more about the situation of the elderly here in Singapore. In addition, I feel that my school, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) is united and though we're the smallest school in TP, we are just like a family. In addition, the Freshmen Orientation that I attended in 2011 gave me the opportunity to make wonderful friends!
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme:
I think that the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) is a great opportunity for students who have a passion and interest in a particular course. I believe that it is indeed a privilege for them to have a one-year head start, here in Temasek Polytechnic!
My advice would be to find out more about the various courses and follow your heart's desire. Choose a course that you are interested and pursue your dreams!
Neo Hui Tong
Diploma in Accounting & Finance,
School of Business
Why TP
The reason why I chose TP was because I was attracted by the wide range of courses and CCAs offered by the school. In addition, TP provides free shuttle bus service every morning which is really convenient for me as I stay in Sengkang.
My TP Experience
During my first semester, I chose Transnational Studies as my Cross Disciplinary Subject (CDS). It was a wonderful experience as I had a chance to stay in the Global Connect Village (GCV) located at Temasek Green for two weeks. It provided me with opportunities to interact with students of different cultures. Overall, it was a fun experience and I even got a chance to cook a meal with my housemates! TP does not only focus on the academics, but also equips you with cross-cultural skills necessary for the 21st century. There are many opportunities for all at TP, all you have to have is passion and an interest.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
The PFP is a rare opportunity that no students should miss out on. Students will benefit during the foundation programme as they can learn more about their dream career. For now, focus and do well for your ‘N’ levels so that you can be the very first batch of students to embark on this learning journey here at Temasek Poly!
Matthew Bak Zhi Wei
Diploma in Retail & Hospitality Design,
School of Design
Why TP?
Since I was young, I have always been interested in art, drawing and design related work. I took art for both ‘N’ Levels and the ‘O’ Levels. After graduating from secondary school, I had a hard time deciding whether to pursue my studies in Applied Science or Design school, as I was also interested in taking up a Science course. I was posted to a science course in another polytechnic. However, after much consideration, I decided to appeal to a design course, Diploma in Retail and Hospitality Design, offered here at Temasek Polytechnic. In this course, I could continue doing design related work and further improve my skills in art and design. When I was accepted in the School of Design, it was a life-changing moment for me.
My TP Experience
Through Design orientation camp, I got to know friends from other courses and also formed strong bonds with one another. I joined the Orientation camp as a subcommittee member the following year, and it was a fulfilling experience. The school spirit and enthusiasm shows how much Design School is united. Design school is not very big but we are like a family, where everyone greets one another. School of Design does not have exams but instead, there are on-going assignments throughout the year. It took a while for me to adapt to the change, however with the help of friends and lecturers, I am able to overcome difficulties in my studies and also make friends with peers who are not only from my course but from other courses as well.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
PFP is a wonderful opportunity for students who are certain of what they want to further their studies in. Seek advice from friends, family or your teachers before making your decision. What matters the most is your interest and passion. It is okay to have fun in school but also work hard! This way, you will definitely enjoy your academic years in Temasek Polytechnic!
Marcus Chan Jun Hong
Diploma in Information Technology,
School of Informatics & IT
Why TP?There are several reasons why I chose TP. Some of the reasons are the location, the course I am interested in and the campus size and facilities offered. The location is very important as I can travel easily from my home to Temasek Polytechnic and back. It was important for me to get into the course I was interested in and Temasek Polytechnic offers such a course. The campus size is also another reason. It must be neither too big nor too small, thus I can walk from point A to point B in a short time and TP is well-equipped with facilities to cater to our needs.
My TP Experience
I thought that life at Temasek Polytechnic was going to be an ordinary learning experience. However, when I first stepped into the campus, the experience was novel and refreshing. I never expected to see groups of students in every direction cheering and warmly inviting you to the school during the Week Zero orientation. I felt at home at once.
Another key TP experience is that the lecturers and tutors here are really helpful; they make sure that you have fully understood the topic. Their care and advice about my future motivates me to work even harder.
I look forward to more rewarding experiences and adventures coming my way!
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
Once you have your passion and goals set, I'll say, just go for it!
Once you enter the Polytechnic Foundation Programme, you have an advantage of getting a head start in polytechnic life. What's more, you'll experience polytechnic life one year ahead of your peers. Lastly, you have a spot secured in the polytechnic course of your choice!
This is really a good opportunity for students who wish to proceed to polytechnic diploma courses which they have passion in.
Pang Kah Liang Albert
Diploma in Business,
School of Business
Why TP?As opposed to Junior College (JC)? Hey, that's easy, primarily because I only took 5 subjects; leaving Polytechnic as the only choice left open. Plus, I felt that a polytechnic education seemed a great deal more relevant to my life, given that someday, I'd like to run my own business as well. As to what specifically, I haven't figured that out.
So the next question, which is probably the question you're really looking out for, is why Temasek Poly over the other four? BSG, as you'll eventually come to know as Business Studies Grouping offers a well-rounded business education in its first, or as I like to put it, its foundation year - whereby you get to wet your toes in the three different business related orientations: Marketing, Logistics and Operations Management (LOM), and Business - before you decide on your preferred choice. I like choices, because having a choice, is to have freedom.
My TP Experience
My experience in TP has been a great one; from school, friends, and the other things that have chanced upon me. I have definitely found the modules at school highly relevant to my life; in fact, practise enough critical thinking, and you'd see how almost everything learned in school - from Economics to Management, especially the psychology bits on Organizational Behaviour, are applicable to everyday life. So yes, if you're complaining that you don't see a purpose in what you're learning now in Secondary School and hence are becoming disinterested in what you're learning, then Polytechnic is the right place for you.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
I think the Polytechnic Foundation Programme is a fantastic opportunity. To be able to grasp the foundations of your course before your peers puts you at an advantage. You'll certainly have a much easier time doing the same subjects later on because you're experienced and have more material knowledge to work with.
COME TO TP, WE ARE FUN. EVERYONE KNOWS IT.
Eveline Aathar
Diploma in Product & Industrial Design,
School of Design
Why TP?Do you marry your neighbour or the one you love, even if he lives miles and miles away from home? Temasek Polytechnic School of Design, although far from home, was my first and only choice, not only because of its prestige as a Design School but also because the course I am interested in is offered here. Students pursuing the Diploma in Product and Industrial Design create designs for consumers in 3D, out of paper and into products that you come into contact with every day.
My TP Experience
The atmosphere here at TP is friendly and close-knit. You have the opportunity to meet people of diverse fields from all schools. These opportunities present themselves in the form of your course mates, the CCAs that you will choose or the different committees that you decide to participate in. Through these experiences, you will form friendships that last beyond your polytechnic years and even as your seniors graduate, many still return because they love TP.
As freshmen walking into the school for the first time for the Design Orientation Camp in 2011, the facilitators' energy and enthusiasm rubbed off on us freshies. The camp theme for that year was 'Ohana' which means 'family' in Hawaiian, and we were truly a big family by the end of the camp. As we walk down the corridor now, greetings are constantly exchanged, and at every turn is a familiar face.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
The Polytechnic Foundation Programme offers the top NA students a place in their desired polytechnic course. If you are sure of which field you want to specialise in by the end of your fourth year of secondary school, then the Polytechnic Foundation Programme is for you. The programme offers you a head start in polytechnic education, giving you that extra edge that you might need as a high achiever. This decision does depend largely on your choice of diploma course, so choose wisely!
Will share more study tips in the future! :) COME TO TP, WE ARE FUN. EVERYONE KNOWS IT.
Kelvin Ho Zheng Long
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science,School of Applied Science
Why TP?There are various reasons for selecting Temasek Polytechnic after receiving my ‘O’ level results. Let’s be honest, I chose Temasek Polytechnic partly due to its short distance to my house. I am a lazy traveler and I believe most of you would also consider the accessibility of the school before deciding to know more about it, right?
Of course, Temasek Polytechnic has more to offer besides being situated near my house. Temasek Polytechnic has a wide variety of courses for you to choose from and you will definitely find one that suits your passion. Furthermore, you can expect more interactive learning experiences as well as opportunities to apply your knowledge during practical lessons and field trips. Such exposure would prepare you well for the working environment.
My TP Experience
My experience in TP is enriching and exciting with the companionship of awesome classmates and lecturers. Flexible timetables and self-directed learning modules have also developed me into an independent and responsible individual. Tutorials are very engaging as tutors act as facilitators to encourage us to discuss and exchange ideas.

My TP Experience
My most memorable TP experience will definitely be the first time I entered the TP gate as one of the TP-ians and feeling a sense of pride. The Orientation Camp was also an amazing experience because that’s where I started making new friends, opening up to people and getting out of my comfort zone. And not to forget, having awesome classmates whom I will be spending my 3-year TP journey with. I am looking forward to even more exciting and life-changing experiences here at TP.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
The PFP programme will definitely give you an advantage in preparing one step ahead of others as you enter a totally new environment. Treat this programme as a stepping stone to a whole new journey and having a great experience in TP. Remember, it is important that you choose a course that you are interested in! And lastly, you should enjoy every moment of it.
Liang Quanyuan Victoria
Diploma in Integrated Facility Management, School of Engineering
Why TP?I chose TP because of its convenient location. Secondly, I was really interested in pursuing the Diploma in Integrated Facility Management. This is a unique course which allows me to choose between the Hospitality and Aviation clusters when I am in Year 2. Furthermore, in this fast-changing world of Facility Management, this course trains us to be versatile and equipped with relevant skills to meet the demands of the industry.
My TP Experience
The most memorable experience for me was when I volunteered as a Group Leader for TP’s Freshman Orientation Camp when I was a Year 1 student. I was really nervous about being a Group Leader for the Freshman Orientation Camp as an opportunity like this is hard to come by. The warmth I got from the other TP students, from Freshmen to Seniors, made me realise that I made the right choice in coming to TP. In addition, I was in the Temasek Polytechnic Student Union (TPSU) in Year 1. I took part in the annual events which TPSU held and I thoroughly enjoyed them.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
I would strongly recommend this programme. Personally, I feel that joining this programme give students a taste of what it is like being in a polytechnic. It also allows students to adapt to the way polytechnics work and further prepare them for the next three years in polytechnic.

These experiences have definitely developed me into a better person as well as a leader. Every day in TP is a new and exciting experience for me.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
Maximize every chance you are given. Opportunities don’t always come knocking at your door and here in TP, we will give you a promising future and fullest support that you need. So don’t be afraid to take up this challenge and join the TP family! :)
Yukie Shaw
Diploma in Visual Communication, School of Design
Why TP?I chose TP because the school has a good reputation. I went through my ‘O’ levels knowing what I wanted to do, which was to learn design in a polytechnic or an art school, but the question I was left with was where. I asked around to see which school others would recommend and most told me that TP Design was the best. Even my most trusted art teachers and mentors said the same. After I did some research and visited the open houses at the various polytechnics and art schools, I decided to choose TP based on the advice I was given. Now, I can proudly say that I have made the right choice.
My TP Experience
I am having the best time of my life now! Although the workload can be a little hard to bear sometimes, I do believe that it is there to make us the best. At the end of the day, I still find joy in what I do so it is all worth it! Other than the studying, TP offers tons of other activities such as the TP Dinner and Dance which I have attended, and I must say that the whole event was very well organised and I had a great time with my friends.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
My advice to students who would be interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme is that if you already have an ambition or a passion, in other words you know what you want to do, TP is definitely the place for you! I do believe that this school will do its best to give you the necessary education as well as the experience as a student for you to reach your goals and dreams!
Crystal Tan Liang Ying
Diploma in Digital Forensics,
School of Informatics & IT
Why TP?I chose Temasek Polytechnic (TP) because it is the first polytechnic to offer a Diploma in Digital Forensics. At TP, all of us are like a big family. We grow together, help one another with our assignments and bond through school-wide events such as CCN Day and the Campus Relay Run. In addition, TP provides a wide range of cross-disciplinary subjects, ranging from Language & Culture such as Japanese and French, to Health Sciences such as Psychology. This allows a student to not only learn about his/her course, but also gain further knowledge in his/her own interest.
My TP Experience
I have spent two years in TP now and it has been an awesome two years. With friends alongside, my journey has been one with ups and downs. Despite the challenges, all of us have surfaced stronger than before with the help of lecturers and Student Interest Groups. TP has definitely made me a stronger and more confident person to face future challenges.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
Make your journey in TP a fun and fulfilling one, without any regrets!
Ho Min Pei
Diploma in Integrated Facility Management,
School of Engineering
Why TP?TP is located near where I live and more importantly, TP is like a second home where everyone is a member of a big family unit.
My TP Experience
One of the memorable TP experiences I have had was the TP E-guides Training Camp (ETC). I signed up alone, and joined alone. Initially, I felt very distant as everyone knew one another and I was the only odd one out. But the warmth and the friendliness of the TP students soon made me feel welcome and eventually, I made good friends.
Another great TP experience is my CCA, Canoe Polo. It is a relatively new sport. Though trainings could be tough at times, it is gratifying and I love my team!
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
I would definitely encourage students to take up this programme. I had rather good results during my “N” levels, however, due to my average “O” level results, my choices were limited. I think that if I was given a chance to enter the Polytechnic Foundation Programme, I will not hesitate to take it and be a step ahead of other students who enter polytechnic a year later.
This programme is a great learning opportunity and will prepare students well to cope with the next three years in polytechnic education.
Mark Lorenze T Manese
Diploma in Computer Engineering,
School of Engineering
Why TP?What won my decision to join TP was the workshop, TPRawks. Basically, TPRawks is an annual three-day event that showcases how vibrant TP life is. It was an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. The facilities in TP also influenced my decision. The sports complex is enormous, TP has the tallest library that offers an extensive collection of books and most importantly, the whole campus is almost fully air-conditioned. How awesome is that?!
My TP Experience
My experience in TP almost feels like I am at a theme park. There are just so many things I have experienced in TP in just a year and a half. I did sports that I couldn’t have done in my secondary school years, such as Archery and Rollerblading. I made friends in TP through many fun events. For example, the Japanese Student Exchange Program organised by E2 Matrix in TP School of Engineering, was where I met many of my Japanese friends. The curriculum in TP is very well-balanced, the pace of the lessons is not too rushed, neither is it too slow, and the subjects offered are very interesting. Lecturers and tutors are very open to feedback too and they make sure that every student can comprehend the subjects.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme

My TP Experience
As a Direct Poly Admission (DPA) student, I was given the opportunity to experience poly life before my peers. Honestly, this helped to form a bridge between secondary school and tertiary life. I have been given many opportunities to participate and perform in other non-academic areas. Lastly, I have never regretted coming to TP because it provides a platform to prepare us for the working society.

The PFP is an excellent opportunity for students to pursue a field that they are passionate about. This means that students can make use of this one year to study what they love and also adapt to the tertiary environment. I believe it will be a meaningful programme for the students.

The camp was a memorable and successful one! The Regatta during the orientation week, where all the different schools come together and start cheering and supporting one another, emboldens the Temasek Spirit!

Well, what can I say? This is the best opportunity for an NA student! I would definitely take this up if it was introduced during my time. My TP Experience
TP is a very exciting place, there are many events for you to participate in. All you have to do is make the first move and start joining these events. I used to be a very shy and quiet person in secondary school. When I first came to TP, I decided to take the big leap and started joining events in TP. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made as I got to know many new friends and acquired important communication skills.

The past two years in TP have certainly been memorable. There were so many fun events held such as the CCN Day, the Digital Forensic Science (DFS) Get Together Day and many more. My course mates are the best part of my TP journey, we have helped one another in assignments and projects, and no one is left behind. At the end of the day, it is the journey with such friends and the experiences that we go through together that prepares us well for our future.
Advice for students interested in joining Temasek Polytechnic through the Polytechnic Foundation Programme
After completing both the ‘N’ and O’ level examinations, and as a former Normal Academic student, I would like to tell all of you that you should not feel like you are missing out on anything by taking up the PFP. Personally, coming to the polytechnic feels like a fresh start, a new beginning, where most subjects are new.
Do not fear having to learn something new. Some modules or subjects allow you to incorporate what you have learnt in secondary school. Furthermore, the subjects consist of lectures and tutorials. Always go for the lectures and tutorials and the knowledge of the subject will be at the tips of your fingertips. Do not worry about failing. As long as you have a positive attitude and are willing to try, there are many hands here at TP waiting to reach out and help.
Choo Mee Ling

Why TP?Temasek Polytechnic is the place where everyone has the opportunity to shine at what we are best at. If you have an idea or a dream, TP is where you can get the support to make your dream a reality.
My TP Experience
