From
TP to Cambridge, Jia Qiong's focus on her studies
continues to take her to higher levels of success.

JOINING the ever-growing pool of highly successful
polytechnic graduates, an Accounting & Finance graduate
from TP is now well on her way to a PhD degree.
A focused learner with a flair for numbers, Jia Qiong
graduated from TP in 2000 as the top student in her
cohort. Her excellent results earned her the prestigious
Sheffield University International Scholarship at UKs
University of Sheffield, where she successfully completed
the Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Financial Management
with first class honours in 2002.
Jia Qiong then took the Master of Science programme
(Management Research) at Oxford University and, true
to form, was among the top 10 percent in her graduating
cohort.
| "The knowledge,
skills and values I picked up at TP were instrumental
to my success at university and in my personal
life. I am especially grateful to all the
TP lecturers who have taught me their
kindness and encouragement will remain in
my fond memories." |

Jia Qiong,
reminiscing her school days at TP

Today, this ambitious young lady is pursuing her PhD
studies at Cambridge University Management School, whilst
concurrently teaching finance subjects on a part-time
basis at the London School of Economics.
Jia Qiongs doctoral thesis is in the field of
corporate finance, where she will explore the workings
of private equities in the mergers and acquisitions
market. To gain practical insights into this challenging
research field, she took the initiative to apply for
a three-month internship at the Government of Singapore
Investment Corporation (GIC).
The GIC experience was short but memorable. GIC
has robust work ethics with clear and methodical work
processes. As a bonus, I got to meet Dr Tony Tan at
the Chinese New Year GIC Celebration Lunch!
