$5.5m Temasek Culinary Academy opens

Students learning the finer points of setting the appropriate cutlery for guests.

THE Temasek Culinary Academy opened its kitchens and restaurants to Temasek Polytechnic’s Culinary & Catering Management (CCM) and Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) students in April this year. Equipped with the latest high-quality food production and restaurant equipment, this new $5.5 million F&B complex was specially built to hone the students’ culinary and service skills.

The Academy’s facilities include a café, a full-service restaurant which boasts a Western and an Asian section, a wine tasting studio, a culinary theatre where chefs demonstrate the finer points of culinary skills, and a skills kitchen where students undergo basic culinary skills training.

"We are in the process of building a strong foundation towards providing the best culinary programme in Asia through facilities and curriculum. The Temasek Culinary Academy marks the dawn of the next level of culinary and service education in Asia."
Mrs Goh-Choi Hoi San,
Course Manager,
Culinary & Catering Management

CCM students will have the privilege of being taught by three chef-instructors from the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America (CIA), besides TP’s own award-winning lecturers. These students are in fact the first in Asia to receive this training by the chef-instructors, following an earlier agreement between TP and the CIA.
