The Tourism Academy @ Sentosa opens

Real People, Real Action, Real Education - is the TAS tagline as it promises industry-relevant training within an authentic environment.

ASIA’s first tourism and hospitality training institution located in a resort setting has opened for business. In May this year, the first batch of students from the Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Business as well as the entire cohort of second year students of the Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management made the meaningful journey in eight chartered buses from Temasek Polytechnic (TP)’s Tampines campus to the The Tourism Academy @ Sentosa (TAS).

Welcomed and garlanded with colourful balloons by staff of TP and Sentosa Leisure Group (SLG) upon their arrival, the students immediately embarked on a week-long “Discover Sentosa” adventure to help them get familiar with the hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions on the island.

A colourful start for the students on their first day at TAS.

TAS is a collaboration between TP and SLG. It offers its local and international students real practical action and hands-on lessons, with the resort island of Sentosa and its attractions, as their training ground. After extensive renovations, four colonial barracks have been transformed into a campus equipped with teaching facilities such as a resource centre, seminar and tutorial rooms and a training kitchen with state-of-the art facilities.
