ALWAYS dedicated to the advancement of design and the search for new design directions, Temasek Design School (DES)’s Centre for Design Innovation organised an exclusive two-day Design Unplugged seminar on 10 and 11 June, focusing on the growing China design market.
The keynote speaker was Prof Xu Xin, an award-winning Chinese typographic extraordinaire who provided glimpses of her design craft in China. She shared examples of the way she worked, including how the China Design Committee, of which she is a member, selected the current
Beijing 2008 Olympics logo design.
Participants included DES staff and students as well as industry practitioners such as creative and art directors, and marketing communication professionals. Over the two days, they were given an insight to the advertising practices in China and the relevance of traditional and new media in Chinese branding, packaging design and consumer behaviour.
