3,745 receive diplomas at
TP’s 15th graduation ceremony

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan spoke to the graduands on the importance of a practical education, having a spirit of enterprise and making a difference in the lives of the people around them.

FROM 12 to 16 July, 3,745 graduands received their TP diplomas, having completed three years of education that prepared them for the challenges of the next phase of their lives.

Graduating from 34 courses, they included the first cohorts from the Diploma in Biomedical Science, Diploma in Mobile & Wireless Computing and the Diploma in Business Process & Systems Engineering. The graduands were also the first to have gone through a new academic architecture - the Flexible Academic System for Temasek - a modular, credit-based system which promotes cross-disciplinary learning.

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth & Sports and Second Minister for Trade & Industry, graced the main session of the graduation ceremony. He reminded the graduands that “life is not just about making money, getting paper qualifications, starting a business or getting a promotion.” Instead, he said that it is about people and how the graduands can make a real difference to those around them.
