World Cyber Games fever hots up at TP

The competition kept the 140 participants at TP engaged in online rivalry for two days.

THE tertiary leg of the World Cyber Games (WCG) kicked off at TP on 7 June. Sponsored by Temasek Information Technology School (INT), Samsung Electronics and International Cyber Marketing, TP students competed in games such as Counter-Strike: Source and DotA Allstars over two days. The WCG is an annual international competition for cyber gamers.

“INT has been playing its part to groom budding talents by offering focused game development subjects to students,” said Mr Tan Dek Yam, Director of the School. “We believe the science of software programming and the art of conceptualising creative ideas are key imperatives for game development.”

Backed by government agencies that include the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and the Economic Development Board, Singapore has won the bid to host the WCG Grand Final in November.
