Young entrepreneurial talents
NOT many are brave enough to tread the uncertain path of being an entrepreneur, especially while they are still studying. But two TP students have shown what youth can achieve, with a little self-belief.
Anthony Neo, a final-year student from the Diploma in Mechatronics, set up Swift Action Group Pte Ltd in 2004. His company develops unique lifestyle products, and sells the prototype to a commercial vendor, earning about 10 to 20 percent of the net sales profit from each invention.

One of Anthony’s latest inventions is the Cardless Electronic Road Pricing Unit. He explained: “Motorists can store a cash value inside this unit, without the need for cash cards. Once the unit is detached from the vehicle, the cash value it contains is automatically code-locked, hence making it practically useless to thieves.”
Anthony, who is the business manager of his company, feels that his business allows him to apply the engineering skills and knowledge that he has gained from his diploma course. “I just need to add a dash of pure hard work,” he said.
