Tourism Academy meets the needs of industry

JUST three weeks after its opening, the Tourism Academy @ Sentosa (TAS) went full steam with its first continuing education initiative for industry practitioners. The Fundamentals of Tourism Business programme was conducted on 9 and 10 June at the request of the Singapore Tourism Board to enable its staff to learn about the nuances and trends in the industry.

TAS also conducted a Brand Protection Seminar for industry practitioners on 29 and 30 June, in collaboration with the Hospitality Association of Singapore. Attended by some 60 hospitality executives, the seminar touched on the latest trends in brand protection in the hospitality industry. It also provided the first opportunity for industry members to visit the academy. One participant, Mr Werner Linders, Director of JohnsonDiversey Consulting, Europe, echoed the sentiments of many when he said that he was pleasantly surprised by the state-of-the-art facilities and the passion he saw among the academy’s staff and students.
