'Zoo Out' for a good cause

A visit to the Animal Land at the Children's World was a highlight of the outing as the children examined the animals up close.

TWENTY-NINE students and two lecturers from Temasek Business School spent half a sunny Saturday at the Singapore Zoological Gardens on Jan 14 with 17 Lakeside Primary School children. The children were from the Starkidz! Programme of Children-At-Risk-Empowerment
Association (CARE). CARE is a
voluntary welfare organisation which reaches out to children at risk of academic failure, behavioural problems, emotional maladjustment, suicidal tendencies and juvenile delinquency.

Funded by TP as well as donations received from students and lecturers, the trip named “Zoo Out!” was a community service project organised by members of the Accounting & Finance Interest Group. The objective was to give the students first-hand experience in community involvement and at the same time, bring fun and
cheer to underprivileged children. Joanne Tan, a second-year student, said: “The outing has enabled me to interact with children and understand them better.”
