TP chef leads S'pore culinary team to world glory

Jubilant winners: the Singapore team led by team manager, Chef Jasmine Ng (second from left).

TP’s culinary instructor at the Tourism Academy @ Sentosa, Chef Jasmine Ng, has led a team of Singapore chefs to a prestigious win in Switzerland.

The team competed successfully at the Salon Culinaire Mondial held in Basel on Nov 23 last year. They took home two gold medals, one trophy for the highest score in Cold Display and Overall Champion in the World. Held only once every six years, winning at this prestigious culinary competition is seen as one of the most coveted and valuable culinary distinctions. It is also one of just six global competitions accredited by the World Association of Cooks’ Societies.

The Singapore national team competed against nine others from Europe and North America and, as the only Asian country represented, certainly made an impact on the world cuisine map. Winning did not come easy for the team, which spent nine gruelling
months preparing for the competition. In addition, they also benefi ted from the valuable support of ex-team members who were
a source of professional feedback.
