TP teaches teens to create digital games

School is out — but these secondary school students were back in the classroom to find out all about digital games from TP staff.

WHILE many teens were still uncertain about what to do during the school holidays last November, 24 secondary school students chose to enrol in a special programme at the Temasek Information Technology School that taught them all about digital games.

These students from Ngee Ann, North Vista and Siglap Secondary Schools spent a week learning about the history of games and gaming, the game business and game design theory. The highlight of the experience was their attempts at creating their very own digital games.

These students were among the pioneer batch of students who completed a 45-hour programme that was part of the Advanced Elective Modules (AEM) initiative by the Ministry of Education. By taking an AEM, students get an opportunity to experience and benefit from a practice-oriented approach used in a subject at a polytechnic.
