Top US chefs to train TP students

TP students will receive their training from top chefs in a state-of-the-art $5.5 million F&B facility at TP.

IN a first for culinary training in Asia, the renowned Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is collaborating with TP to train students enrolled in the Culinary & Catering Management (CCM) course.

Under an agreement signed between the two institutions, three CIA chef-instructors will co-teach the students alongside award-winning culinary instructors from TP. Upon completion of their diploma course, the students can also choose to complete an additional 600 hours in the area of culinary practicum to obtain an Associate of Occupational Studies degree from the CIA.

They can then earn a Bachelor of Professional Studies – Culinary Arts degree by completing an additional one and a half years of study at the CIA.The pioneer batch of CCM students, who will be in their second year of study when term re-opens in April, will be the first to be trained under the terms of this agreement. They will be trained in a newly-commissioned 28,000 sq ft comprehensive training facility at TP.

Associate vice president of the CIA, Dr Victor Gielisse, commented on the partnership: “The CIA is excited about the next phase of our collaboration and strategic partnership (with TP), particularly as the interest in global cuisines is at the forefront of the foodservice and hospitality industry.”

The CIA, a not-for-profit college, counts world-renowned chefs Anthony Bourdain, Todd English and Roy Yamaguchi among its illustrious alumni.
