Real-life learning at IMF-World Bank Meetings

The handpicked TP students were the only tertiary students engaged by Suntec Singapore to work in the event venue.

"We were delighted to have the opportunity to work side by side with Temasek Polytechnic students. Their exuberance and spirit in dealing with the international visitors will present a very positive image of Singapore."
Mr Warren J. Buckley,
Chief Executive, Suntec Singapore

AS part of TP’s concerted efforts to maximise real-life learning opportunities for its students, 400 specially selected students had the rare chance to provide their service at the Singapore IMF-World Bank Meetings held in September 2006 at Suntec City. In fact, TP was the only tertiary institution engaged by Suntec Singapore’s management to assist in its operations.

The students were selected based on their aptitude in the areas of leisure, hospitality, tourism and culinary skills to ensure that the delegates were provided with the best service. In addition, they all had to be GEMS (Go the Extra Mile for Service) certified.

Among these students from the Hospitality & Tourism Management, Leisure & Resort Management and Culinary & Catering Management courses, 13 were specially selected to serve high level VIPs and assist the directors of Suntec Singapore.
