Clarence serves up his prize-winning design.

TEMASEK Design School students won top prizes
at a shoe design competition in November 2006. The
competition, organised by crocstm, carried the theme
“Nowhere Close To Normal!”.

At the finals held at VivoCity, the judges shortlisted
ten of the original entries received from students of the
various local design institutions based on the criteria of
creativity, originality and wearability. The public then voted for their favourite designs in the grand finals.

Yu Xian's sushi-inspired design which bagged the Bronze prize.

First-year visual communication student Clarence Wee walked away with the $2,000 cash Gold prize with his green amoeba-like design. Simple and yet eye-catching, it featured subtle carved elements that made use of the existing perforations to give the impression that it was a frog spawn. His second-year counterpart, Yu Xian, bagged the $500 cash Bronze prize with her sushi-inspired creation looking good enough to eat. Also securing prizes were Tan Sook Chin, Rachel Koh ZhiQi and Constance Chong, who received $200 crocs™ vouchers each.
