TP has signed a Letter of Intent with the Singapore Police Force “G” Division to collaborate on projects on crime prevention and detection, with the aim of enhancing security in the heartlands.

Under the agreement, the two parties will engage in joint
R&D, as well as share their operational expertise and
resources.

One of the projects being jointly undertaken is the “Mobile Phone Tracking & Security System”. When a mobile phone that has been loaded with the hidden software detects a “foreign” SIM card, the user will be prompted to key in a password. If a wrong password is entered, an SMS with information of the phone’s IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity), IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) and the user’s current location, will be automatically sent to the police. This effectively renders a stolen mobile phone unusable and allows the police to track down the thief.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Lim Kok Thai, commander of the Bedok
Police Division Headquarters, said: “We have been working with TP on
various projects, and we are pleased to formalise our cooperation with TP
through this Letter of Intent.”
