CONTRIBUTIONS by TP’s Information Technology students have brought to life the first online digital community portal in Singapore. Tampines@live is a one-stop portal for Tampines residents which provides them with exhaustive information on their community.
The students provided a feature called Tampines 360, an online 3D map in Google Earth to the portal. They also created the 3D models of buildings and other structures in Tampines, providing a realistic and interactive dimension to the map. Together with the Geo-tagged images, it enhances the user’s experience when using the map.
Temasek Informatics & IT School was engaged to create a significant online presence for Tampines East on the world map by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore and Tampines Town Council leaders. The portal was launched by Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development and Adviser to Tampines Grassroots Organisations in July.
