PRODUCT & Industrial Design student, Matthew Tan Tian Xiang has done TP proud by clinching the prestigious Gold award at the recent Singapore Furniture Industries Council’s Furniture Design Award 2005 in the Students Category.

Matthew takes top spot after beating 392 other contenders, including those from La-Salle SIA College of the Arts, Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and the National University of Singapore.

This year, contestants were asked to create furniture based on the theme “New Asia”. A panel of 10 foreign and local representatives from the furniture and interior design industries judged the entries.
