A DECOMMISSIONED A4 SkyHawk fighter jet has landed at Temasek Polytechnic. Donated by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), it was delivered on 12 October.
The aircraft will be used as a teaching aid in the Aerospace Engineering and Aerospace Electronics elective options for students of the Diploma in Mechatronics and
Diploma in Electronics
respectively.
Students taking these elective options will have a chance to study first hand, the aircraft’s intricate mechanisms, airframe structure and design, flight control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic applications, as well as the electrical and instrumentation systems, among others. This will give them a more tangible and authentic learning experience.
Said Mr Chia Kwee Heng, the Engineering lecturer who helped to negotiate the donation of the aircraft: “We are grateful to the RSAF for their timely donation of the A4 Skyhawk. It will certainly help us in the training of our students to meet the needs of the booming aerospace industry in Singapore.”
