Major Japanese museum picks Timothy's works

Visual Communication graduate of 2007, Timothy Stuart Wee has had two of his works selected by a Japanese museum as part of their extensive permanent art collection.
The museum, Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts (K-MoPA), organises the annual “Young Portfolios” programme. Every year, it accepts works to be considered for purchase as part of their collection in an effort to preserve works by young persons enthusiastic about expressing themselves through photography.
Photographers, professional or amateur and regardless of nationality, as long as they are below the age of 35, are invited to submit their works to be considered for induction into the museum's permanent collection. This year, about 6,000 works were submitted.
Timothy joins the ranks of Ansel Adams, Nobuyoshi Araki, Edward Curtis, Robert Frank, William Klein, Helmut Newton, Irvin Penn and Jerry Uelsmann. Competing on international ground, Timothy has emerged as one of only three Singaporeans listed in their collection.
Interestingly, one of the other two Singaporeans whose works are in K-MoPA’s permanent art collection is Temasek Design School’s Visual Communication lecturer, and someone who taught Timothy, Mr Chow Chee Yong. |
