TEMASEK Polytechnic has set up Asia’s first Interactive Digital Centre (IDC) Asia in partnership with IM Innovations and EON Reality. The Centre, only the eighth in the world, is supported by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).

IDC Asia specialises in developing 3D applications to enhance the business and training programmes of companies in key industries like medical, education, transportation, architecture, engineering and construction. It is part of TP’s effort to work with industries in support of the Government’s plan to spur the adoption of Interactive Digital Media (IDM) applications, and achieve the vision of a Global Media City under its “Media 21” blueprint.

Speaking at the launch of IDC Asia on Nov 1, Mr Chan Yeng Kit, then CEO of IDA, said: “The establishment of IDC Asia will spur the growth of DME (digital media and entertainment) businesses as Singapore strengthens itself as a DME capital offering innovative content, services and technologies to the world.”

TP is also building a complete eco-system by providing skilled manpower through its new Diploma in Interactive Media Technology, starting in April 2008.

Located in Temasek Engineering School, IDC Asia houses state-of-the-art 3D equipment and software. It includes the 3D Media Studio, and the Asean Authorised Training Centre for “Cinema 4D” software, set up with IM Innovations.
