1,000 students test T3's readiness

These TP students were among the first to check out the new Airbus A380 super jumbo aircraft as part of their participation in their T3 operational readiness exercise.

As part of a collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, more than 1,000 TP students took part in a series of operational exercises held at the new Changi Airport Terminal 3.

Explaining the rationale for taking part in the exercise, Aviation Management & Services (AMS) lecturer Mr Paul Yap said: “Besides helping to test the operational readiness of T3, the exercise was also a unique opportunity for our AMS students to observe, first-hand, how a world class airport is set up, and of course, to be among the first to board the A380 aircraft.”

Held between July and October, these exercises aimed to test the infrastructure of the new terminal, including its departure and arrival processes, baggage handling, as well as logistics required for the new Airbus A380 passenger aircraft.

In addition, AMS students were involved in testing the airport’s security screening and new automated immigration systems. The students also attended a series of lectures, held in the airport’s gate-hold room, about the basics of getting a new airport ready for operation.
