Student DJ champ lands radio internship

Fredrick, winner of the Fight Club DJ competition, has achieved his dream of entering the media industry.

It isn’t everyday that you beat more than 200 people in a DJ competition, and win yourself an invitation by a radio station to spend a month hosting shows on air. For Fredrick Lai, however, this is just the latest chapter in his long love affair with the arts.
Fredrick Lai, second-year Communications & Media Management student at TP, took top prize in 100.3FM’s DJ Competition, “Fight Club”, claiming victory over 10 other finalists. The competition saw participation by students from all the polytechnics, National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.
Driven by his interest in the media industry, Fredrick signed up for TP’s Communications & Media Management diploma course after his O levels as it allowed him to pursue what he most wanted to do. Realising his talent, his lecturers encouraged him to give the competition a shot.
Fredrick won a one-month internship with 100.3FM and the opportunity to host a programme called “Campus Gang” (校园帮) with five other finalists. |
