Temasek Poly goes fully wireless

The new environment allows for network access both in and outdoors, and at a faster speed than ever.

STUDENTS and lecturers of TP are now enjoying easy access to network resources from anywhere within their campus. They are now able to access lecture notes, learning resources, emails and the Internet without the need to hunt for fixed network points.

While the campus had gone wireless at selective indoor areas since 2000, this time, staff and students get to enjoy full wireless coverage, both indoor and outdoor. This is possible as the polytechnic implements a campus-wide wireless network infrastructure.

Multiple application software that needs network access can now be implemented, and anyone on campus can check their emails using hand-held devices while on the move. They are also working at a faster speed and are now able to roam. Ultimately, this development means an enhanced learning experience for students, encouraging the sharing of resources for effective learning, and significant cost savings as compared to maintaining a wired network system.
