A STUDENT project has turned into a sustained means for TP staff and students to contribute to a worthy
effort.
Four Business Process & Systems Engineering students have set up an online portal for
staff and students in TP to buy and sell items such as laptops, books and gadgets. Developed as part of their final-year Major Project, the portal earns its revenue through advertisements, with all profits going to the
Singapore Heart Foundation.
The portal raised $8,000 for the Foundation within its
fi rst two months of operation. It was also displayed at
the World Heart Day event in October 2008, where a
second cheque for $6,500 was presented to Ms Grace
Fu, Senior Minister of State for National Development
and Education.
To date, the portal has about 2,000 members and
generated a profit of $17,000. |
