TP takes 2 golds at WorldSkills Singapore

NUR AMALINA Zakaria and Lim Yuan Jie from Temasek Informatics& IT School have made TP proud with their goldmedal wins at the national Worldskills Competition.

The World Skills’ winners will soon be on their way to represent Singapore in Canada.

Both will represent Singapore at the 40th WorldSkills Competition to be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in September 2009 where they will compete with the best from across the world in their respective categories.

Amalina, a final-year Internet & Multimedia Development student, won the gold medal in the Web Design category, while first-year Information Technology student, Yuan Jie, took the gold in the IT-Software Applications category.

“I hope that my achievement will inspire more people to have the courage to step away from what is expected of them, and follow their dreams,” shared Amalina. To Yuan Jie, the experience has taught him to be more analytical, a better problem-solver, and also a tougher person. “It has been a mentally challenging experience which has given me so much more courage to face challenges head-on,” he said.
