Mr Seah Moon Ming
is appointed TP's chairman

Mr
Seah is a firm believer in the value of continuing
R&D and a champion of innovation. He took
over as Chairman of TP's Board of Governors on
July 15.

MR SEAH Moon Ming, deputy CEO, ST Engineering Ltd and
president, ST Electronics Ltd, is the new chairman of
TPs Board of Governors (BOG). Having served as
deputy chairman since May 2005, he took over as chairman
from Mr Liew Mun Leong, president and CEO of CapitaLand
Ltd, on July 15.
Mr Seah has been a member of TPs BOG since 2002,
and from June 2002 to April 2005, he also served as
chairman of the Temasek Engineering School Advisory
Committee (TESAC). As chairman of TESAC, Mr Seahs
corporate experience and acumen were especially valuable
in shaping TPs engineering courses and in the
introduction of diploma options to make them even more
industry relevant.
Mr Seah began his career as an engineer with MINDEF
in 1981 and served in numerous senior posts during his
13 years there. In 1994, he was appointed general manager
of CET Technologies (now ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems)
Pte Ltd). Three years later, he was appointed managing
director of ST Electronics. Today, besides his ST portfolios,
he is also vice chairman of two public listed companies
Trek 2000 Ltd and ECS Holdings Limited. In addition,
he sits on the board and committees of numerous other
organisations that span the technology, transportation
and education sectors.

A firm believer in the value of continuing R&D
and a champion of innovation, Mr Seah is an inventor
holding two patents. He has also been recognised for
his union work. In May 2001, he received the Medal of
Commendation from the National Trades Union Congress,
Singapore.
Mr Seah majored in electronics engineering at the National
University of Singapore. In 1985, he was awarded a Masters
of Science (EE) with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate
School, USA. His thirst for knowledge also led him to
attend the Stanford-NUS Executive Programme and the
Programme for Management Development at Harvard University,
USA.
Married with three children, Mr Seah enjoys golf, chess
and swimming.
Mr Seah takes over from Mr Liew Mun Leong who served
as chairman of the Board of Governors from 1999. In
those seven years, Mr Liew has given invaluable guidance
and insight to the Polytechnic.
