The list of Advanced Elective Modules (AEMs) offered by the School of Humanities & Social Sciences are:
Arts Appreciation (CODE: AEMTPMD001)
The module provides students with an overview of two aspects of the arts: visual art (paintings) and performance art (theatre). Encompassing an introductory exploration of the major movements in art and theatre history, students will get to create art, learn about famous art works & the colorful lives of artists and playwrights, as well as basic theatre skills. In addition, students will have a chance to go on field trips and attend selected artistic performances. It will be conducted within a duration of 40 hours with a class size of 20. Aims of AEM- enable students to develop an informed appreciation of the arts
- increase students’ level of theoretical, conceptual and cultural knowledge of the arts
- offer students direct involvement and engagement with the arts
Note: The module will be conducted intensively over a 3-week period during the post-examination period or secondary school vacation period. | |

Students are required to: - attend at least 80% of the lessons and
- obtain a pass mark of at least 50% upon completion of the module.

Psychology & Applications (CODE: AEMTPBZ004)
This module introduces students to the exciting field of psychology. It aims to give an overall perspective and understanding of psychology as a scientific study of mental processes and human behaviour. Students will also get the opportunity to explore the different types of specialisations and careers in psychology.
It will be conducted within a duration of 40 hours with a class size of 20 (2 classes per year).
Aims of AEM
This module aims at introducing foundational psychology concepts, theories, its application and relevance to everyday living.
Note: This module is best scheduled over 2 weeks during the common polytechnic and secondary schools’ vacation.
