Faris Abdulkadir Basharahil
Diploma Hospitality in Tourism Management, Class of 2008

Faris' community journey started at the age of 14. After graduating with a Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management in 2008, Faris decided to take this noble act to a greater height. He founded Social Creatives, a non-profit enterprise that aims to promote art with a purpose and adopt an intermediary approach of connecting art and community groups together.

Faris curated the first ever void-deck art gallery in 2011 that was featured on CNN on top of cover of Zao Bao and articles in Straits Times, Berita Harian and other local papers. He was also a speaker for a TED Conference. To date, Social Creatives have over 150 public murals and memberships with the Social Enterprise Association and an affiliate of Global Murals Association.

Andrew Koh Xian Wei

Andrew was doing his internship in an event management company when he realised there were business opportunities in doing outdoor corporate events. Together with his friend, he started an outdoor events management company called Events Architects. Andrew said TP provides very good training for its students, and the communication skills and other industry-relevant skills he learned in TP has helped him clinch several business projects.

IGGI's Culture Coalition

IGGI'S was founded at the end of 2004 by Serina and Ignatius. What started as a nomadic-like business at expat fairs and bazaars evolved into a shop at Bugis Village. Not satisfied with the common imports, the pair started their own streetwear label - IGGI'S Culture Coalition, in mid-2005. To date, IGGI'S has sold nearly 8,000 Culture Coalition T-shirts both locally and overseas.

Armed with priceless knowledge and insights gained in TP, Amos incorporated Hark Music in 1999 with the main aim of  developing and providing opportunities for budding music talents to realise their dreams to become a promising musician or entertainer. Areas of their accomplishments include performing live on stage, composing original songs to be published and producing their own music album. Today, Hark Music is fully transformed into a Music Hub, integrating its facilities and services to host music lovers who wish to make an impression with their passion in music. Besides the conversion of Hark Music Café into a performing studio and a recording studio which provide a professional platform for pop music enthusiasts to showcase their talents, Hark Music also branches out into artiste training and management, with plans to release its first Hark Artiste.

Leicester Chua Kah Huat, the Managing Director of i-vic International graduated from Temasek Polytechnic in the 1994 with a Diploma in Business. He currently holds a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from the University of Hull. Leicester left a very lucative career in 2007 to set up the company. His decision has proven right. In a span of 4 years, i-vic International’s revenue has grown from S$2 million to over S$13 million. Today, other than being one of the leading contact centres in Singapore, i-vic International has also diversified into Software Development, Digital Media, Logistic and Human Resource Management businesses.

Founded by Poh Boon Cheong, Sunflower, located at City Mall Square, is a concept store which focuses on handmade, unique, eco-friendly, and socially-responsible (aka 'H.U.E.S') products and services. Likened to a vibrant sunflower, which is made up of numerous florets in spirals, Sunflower aims to bring together partners and enterprising individuals comprising home-based, freelance and online entrepreneurs in creating a special space in Singapore’s thriving retail landscape. Since its inception in 2009, Sunflower has made an indelible mark on the Singapore retail scene.  In addition to tie-ups with international conservation organisation WWF, and established agencies, Sunflower has also received numerous media coverage such as LianheZaobao, TODAY and Channel NewsAsia.

Marcus is one of the proud business partners of Cosmosine, a lifestyle luxury limousine that serves as a venue for party on wheels.  Being the first-of-its-kind in Singapore, Cosmosine is gaining popularity as a provider for corporate events, birthday celebrations, family gatherings, sightseeing tours, weddings and more. Since its launch in early 2008, Cosmosine has been making waves on the roads of Singapore as well as local media such as Channel 8 and Channel U, as well as dailies such as Strait Times,The New Paper and numerous other magazines such as I-Weekly, 8 Days etc.

Founded by Chris Lim and Chen Yaoming, both graduates of the School of Design, AvantGarden Studio Pte Ltd specialises in developing Web based media contents, publications and interactive games. Their company is also funded by the Entrepreneurial Talent Development Fund.Its unique selling point is in the use of animation to convey important (yet often boring) messages in an entertaining way. Both award-winning designers, Chris and Yaoming certainly put their passion for animation and creative arts to good use.

Eugene was inspired to start Creme Creative Market in 2011 as a platform for local and regional creative brands, retail labels and businesses to reach out to the masses in the creative community.  Besides helping them to generate brand awareness and publicity, Creme also organises fresh and exciting pop-up creative markets for design and creative labels, fashion and product merchandisers, artists and crafters several times a year in various locations.  These pop up markets are unconventional and in theme concepts to add diversity.

A Merit holder, Kenny was subsequently awarded the Media Development Authority Scholarship to pursue a degree in Digital Filmmaking from the NanyangTechnological University.  Kenny’s strong passion for filmmaking has led him to create, direct and produce his own productions.  His works, which have been shown locally and overseas, have won many awards such as MDA Gold Medal, O’Connor’s Singapore Prize and The Crowbar Awards. In 2005, Kenny decided to turn his passion into business and StudioMB Pte Ltd was incorporated as a result.  As a media production house, it has since served many corporations, agencies, institutions and individuals through its own unique style of creative work and personalised management. Its works have earned many accolades both locally and overseas.. After six successful years as a media boutique, StudioMB is expanding with new divisions of services and products so as to further imbue the business focus of originality and quality.

Mark Ong

Born and raised in Singapore, Mark Ong a.k.a SBTG is a name synonymous with the art of sneaker customising. Heavily driven by passion, his body of work is an unguided result of his life which depicts influences from skateboarding through the late 80’s to mid 90’s, military aesthetics and disciplines, and heavy metal and punk music from that era. Since 2003, he has individually hand-made thousands of sneakers in different of designs. He has been invited to commission designs for industry giants like Nike and New Balance; and retailers like ATMOS & Chapter, and Nomme De Guerra. Mark’s uniquely handcrafted sneakers take the art of D.I.Y to new levels and have attracted the likes of James Lavelle, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn from Linkin Park, and Q-tip. His creative vision was later reinforced with the birth of his clothing line, Royalefam.

Chrisandra Heng is now managing her own practice, Simon Chrisandra Associate (SCA). A young woman with a passion for life and work, Chrisandra stresses the importance of good packaging, corporate branding and quality control. Armed with over eight years of professional experience working in international design firms like Steven J Leach & Associates, Smith Madden and DNA Consulting, Chrisandra has completed a wide range of projects ranging from financial institutes through IT companies, to retail and corporate offices. An award-winning Interior Design and Facilities Planning Consultants firm, SCA offers a wide scope of professional services, ranging from providing design consultancy and project management to implementing full scale integrated projects.

The Asylum, founded by Chris in 1999, is defined as an ideas company specialising in creative works, both in the retail and commercial sectors. Since its inception, The Asylum has serviced a wide range of disciplines that included interactive design, product development, environmental design, packaging, apparel design, branding, and corporate literature. Their works are widely recognised and have received numerous international awards. Chris was awarded Black Collar Man of the Year 2007 by “ARENA Singapore” magazine. This award recognises the best Black Collar Workers in Singapore in various disciplines.

Being creative means being able to make use of whatever resources at hand to produce the desired results. That is how Nathan Yong, a 1992 Product Design graduate, got his furniture retail shop Air Division started with only $100,000 together with a friend from the School of Design and three ex-colleagues. Air Division’s vision is to be recognised in the international scene as a company that produces good design, quality furniture and fair pricing. With an established and growing international profile, Nathan’s designs have been sold in Germany, Denmark, Morocco and the United States. He has also collaborated with many renowned designers. Air Division has received many awards since inception.

Founded in 2002 by Jervis Lee and Alvin Poh, Vodien is a leading web hosting company that provides products such as shared web hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated servers, complex web hosting solutions, cloud hosting, and domain name registration services. Based in Singapore, Vodien serves both the local and international  markets. Vodien focuses on providing the very best customer support and hosts multi-national companies, government agencies, popular  celebrities and bloggers from all over the world.

Niraj Agarwal

Niraj Agarwal, who graduated with a Diploma in Mechatronics in 2003, is running a multi-million-dollar company called Bizgram Pte Ltd. Niraj came to Singapore in 2000 under a scholarship from Ministry of Education which allowed him to study mechatronics at a subsidised rate. He started servicing computers after graduation. By March 2004, he was able to set up his own service centre at Sim Lim Square. Today, Niraj runs Bizgram with a team of talented people, serving clients in Singapore and countries such as Mauritius, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Mongolia, Brunei, Australia and Indonesia.

Graduated in 2001, Eddie is an ambitious young man. He not only acquired the Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology (RMIT) in 2004, Eddie also set up his own company, Edifice Pte Ltd. Edifice is a branding and digital media agency that assists her clients in elevating and strengthening their brands onto the digital market by giving them a clearer and stronger identity. Edifice provides services in eBranding (web design, web application programming), Brand Comms (Visual artwork for advertorial and print media i.e. magazines, newspaper, corporate brochures) and Brand Positioning. Through years of experiences in the industry, Edifice has delivered excellent quality work to its corporate partners.

Opcon was founded in 2007 by Edwin with the goal of providing quality and affordable dive wear and gear to the diving fraternity. Being a diving enthusiast himself, Edwin's intention is to promote this sport as well as to make diving products easily accessible and affordable. To top it all, as a navy-trained technical and recreational dive instructor, Edwin had always wanted to revolutionalise the current range of underwater scooters and dive vehicles in the market as they were cumbersome and too manual.  Through his relentless R&D efforts, he invented the Black Ace, a personal propulsion system that uses digital technology to enhance underwater activities.

Armed with a diploma in Mechatronics and a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Unversity of Southern California, Marc would never have thought that he would embark on a F&B business one day.  But after years of being in the engineering industry, he decided to make a complete switch and Berrylite® was established as a result. Berrylite® specialises in 100% fat-free frozen yogurt, a product which carries the `Healthier Choice' logo and is accredited as member of the National Yogurt Association, USA.  Barely three years into business, Marc has already established several stores located in major shopping centres.  Going forward, he aspires to take Berrylite® beyond the shores of Singapore into other partsof Asia.

Recognising the immense growth in the mobile game market, Geraldine and Khang, both based in Pittsburg, USA, decided that it was time to unleash their entrepeneurial talent and creativity juices. LeftRight Studios was thus founded in 2009, dedicated to developing applications and games for Apple iPhone, iTouch and iPad. Since inception, the mobile games developed by LeftRight Studios have been receiving rave reviews. Todate, it has a user base of more than 200,000 and still growing.

Alvin resigned from his first job as a Sales Engineer after being inspired by the book Rich Dad Poor Dad. With no experience in the Internet business, he dived right into the deep end and came up with the idea of interactive eMagazines. Onezine started off as an e-magazine portal. Many major brands liked what they saw and engaged Onezine as their appointed web agency that helps their clients from conceptualization to production to marketing.
