Mr Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Education Officiates at Opening of TP’s 23rd Graduation Ceremony

Mr Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Education, will officiate at the opening session of Temasek Polytechnic’s 23rd Graduation Ceremony on Friday, 17 May 2013 at 9.00am at the Temasek Convention Centre. A total of 5007 students will graduate from 54 full-time diploma courses and six part-time specialist diploma and diploma courses. TP’s graduation ceremonies will span over 14 sessions from 17 – 23 May 2013.

New Singapore plastic film is the future of 3D on-the-go

TP students win 2 prizes in National Website Design Competition 2006

TP clinched the second prize and one of five consolation prizes at the Open Category of the National Website Design Competition 2006. The theme of the compeition was "The Significance & Importance of the International Monetary Fund/World Bank". The judges comprised representives from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, S2006 and NYAA Council. The students received their prizes on 30 Oct 06 at the NYAA Bronze and Silver Award Ceremony.

TP students clinch top award at Synergy 2006

Five Chemical Engineering students from Temasek Applied Science School won the top Cash Award of $5,000 at a patent commercialisation competition - Synergy 2006. Synergy 2006 is a patent commercialisation competition which aims to create awareness of intellectual property and related commercialisation activities and provide an innovative exchange platform for inventors, IP owners, venture capitalists, business developers and anyone generally interested in the commercialisation and exploitation of intellectual property. For the competition, our students combined two patents for the development of a commercialisation plan. The first patent is a household water treatment device. The second patent is a method to coat nano-sized titanium dioxide photocatalyst onto supporting substrates. The synergy in combining the household water filter with nanotechnology not only eliminated its limitations but also generated a new commercial product - a portable water treatment device.

Poly Grads Snapped Up By Employers

Of the 7,482 fresh graduates who took part in the survey, 91.4 per cent of the respondents who were economically active were snapped up by employers within six months of graduating - an improvement compared to 90.5 per cent in the last survey conducted in 2004. Poly Tuition Fee Increases to $2,100 Per Year

For the new academic year 2006, the polytechnics will increase their tuition fee by $50, from $2,050 to $2,100 per year. The new tuition fee will be applied to new and existing polytechnic students. The new tuition fee will help cover cost increases arising from higher manpower and other operating costs.

New Guinness World Records & Singapore National Records To Be Set At Temasek Polytechnic!

Temasek Polytechnic (TP) will be the venue where the next Singapore and Guinness World Records will be set! On 5 January 2006, Dr William Tan, a medical doctor and an accomplished sportsman who contracted polio at the age of two and is paralysed waist down, will begin a 24-hour hand-cycling feat at TP's Sports Stadium. This is an entirely new experience for him because until now, Dr Tan has been clocking in world records on the wheelchair!
