Region’s 1st Fuel Cell Community Launched at TP

As part of the initiative to develop Singapore into a hub for alternative energy solutions, Temasek Engineering School, with the support of the Economic Development Board, will be setting up the Singapore Fuel Cell Community (FCC) in TP, to spearhead the drive towards the use of fuel cells. Fuel cells, which make use of hydrogen to produce electricity, is a promising new technology which offers a relatively less expensive and environmentally friendly alternative source of energy today. This Fuel Cell Community, comprising collaborative partners from the industry, will provide the necessary support to technopreneurs and companies, from product conceptualisation to funding and commercialisation.

TP is the “Best Host for International Students”

Temasek Polytechnic was named the Best Host for International Students Studying in Singapore at the inaugural Singapore Education (SE) Awards organised by the Singapore Tourism Board. Held at the National Museum, the Awards presentation ceremony was officiated by Mr S Iswaran, Minister of State for Trade and Industry.

IT Project Show 2007

The IT Project Show is an annual event organized by Temasek Information Technology School to showcase projects developed by the School's final year students. Through the Project Show, the School seeks opportunities to establish joint collaboration with the industry on product commercialization and development. The participating students also take the opportunity to demonstrate their competencies by presenting their projects to and answering questions from invited guests and members of the general public.

Polytechnic Student Research Programme Award Presentation Ceremony

Launched in 1997, the PSRP is aimed at nurturing students in R&D through an immersion in a scientific and engineering research environment. The TP teams came up with two projects - a logfile analysis program that helps provide useful information to researchers who are developing a media grid infrastructure at the Institute of High Performance Computing; and a project which investigates the use of photocatalysis to facilitate the removal of arsenic, a common groundwater contaminant found in many countries.

Singapore Robo Grand Prix 2007

Singapore’s Hottest Racing Event is back! The Robo Grand Prix is a competition in which mobile robots race in a given course to determine which robot clocks the fastest single lap time. The course pattern is not known prior to the commencement of the race. Rules will be based on the Japan Robotrace Competition Rules.

Poly grads in great demand

Poly graduates landed jobs at higher salaries, according to the annual graduate employment survey by the five polytechnics. Of the 7,231 fresh graduates who took part in the survey, 91.3 percent of the respondents who were economically active1 found employment within six months of graduating.
