What is TP’s Polytechnic Preparatory Programme (PPP)?
If you are accepted into the DPA, you are expected to participate in our 8-week Polytechnic Preparatory Programme (PPP) from February to April 2012
. The PPP is a course which lets you
- broaden your learning experience
- orientate yourself better to the polytechnic environment
- build a stronger foundation for your polytechnic studies.
The PPP also frees up your time in school as it allows you to chalk up credit units which count towards your graduation.

Besides freeing up your time, the PPP is designed for one other thing - to let you have fun while learning!
Below are some of the modules under TP’s PPP.
General modules in March 2012
Leadership & Adventure Programme No one ever said learning couldn’t be fun. Through fun-filled activities and workshops, this module hones your leadership and team effectiveness skills through experiential and adventure learning.
TransNational Studies Learn how to communicate and interact in the increasingly multicultural and global world we live in. You will have the chance to develop your own cultural awareness through interactive learning activities. Plus, you’ll also get to enjoy the excitement of living on campus at our Temasek Green apartments.
Japanese Language & Culture Do you fantasise about ordering your sashimi in Japanese? In this module, you’ll get to master basic Japanese oral communication skills and also learn about key aspects of Japanese society like its value system and food culture. You’ll also have the opportunity to examine some current Japanese social trends.

Entrepreneurship Project: Interdisciplinary Approach This subject engages, develops and inspires you with an interest in starting or assisting innovative business that has the potential to make significant impacts on the Sport industry.
School specific module in March 2012
School of Applied Science Programmes Besides visiting the various science laboratories and pilot plants/training units at the Applied Science School, you’ll be introduced to hands-on experiences through multidisciplinary projects. You will also learn more about experimental design, analytical and problem solving skills, technical/research skills and more.
School of BusinessProgrammes You will be introduced to the various aspects of the general business environment and exposed to the key sectors of the economy. You’ll get to visit and experience the various training centres housed within the Business School, attend lectures and participate in interactive learning and hands-on activities.
School of Design Programmes Experience the multi-disciplinary nature of the design process and learn how to record and communicate your concepts and ideas. You will also have an opportunity to showcase your talent and creativity by taking part in a design exhibition.
School of Engineering Programmes Be introduced to analytical, critical and creative thinking skills which will help you develop a more open and inquiring mind. You will be challenged to think out-of-the box by exploring a broad range of creative solutions to problem solving and product innovation. You’ll also get to learn more about Robotic technology and take part in a fun robo-racer competition!
School of Humanities & Social Sciences Programmes Ever wonder how children, the elderly and people in general think and behave? What fascinates them and engages them? Hop on this unique programme which introduces you to Psychology Studies, Gerontological Management Studies and Early Childhood Studies! You’ll get to explore the different psychological components and approaches of human behaviour; look at how society views aging and services for the silver industry and return to treasured early years experiences of exploration and fun. Nothing beats our days’ of hands-on experiential journey to conclude your PPP experience!”
School of Informatics & IT Programmes Learn how to critically evaluate information resources on the Internet for research. On top of that, equip yourself with the necessary IT and study skills to help make learning more efficient and productive as you transit from secondary school to the polytechnic.
Course Fees
Course fees per student for the Polytechnic Preparatory Programme are:
- Singapore Citizens - $150
- Permanent Residents - $250
- Foreign Students - $400
Successful students who need help with the course fees may apply for financial assistance.
