Scholarships

There are 2 categories of scholarships available. These are:

Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are awarded to second and third year students who possess outstanding academic records and have a track record of involvement in Co-Curricular Activities. The Polytechnic will select and award Academic Scholarships to eligible and deserving students. Students do not have to apply for the scholarships.

Scholarships are secured through sponsorships from external companies. Based on donor-specified diplomas, deserving candidates from these stipulated diplomas will be selected for consideration. The nominal value of the sponsorship is usually the cost of the tuition fee plus an optional book allowance of $200 to $300. The scholarship will be used to offset against the student’s tuition fee and the balance (if any), will be reimbursed to the student via interbank GIRO.

Recipient of a scholarship is not eligible for another scholarship or bursary from another donor. A scholarship recipient who withdraws from his/her course of study must return the FULL scholarship amount to Temasek Polytechnic at the point of withdrawal.

Scholarships administered by Temasek Polytechnic usually do not carry any obligation of bond with the donor company unless otherwise stated by the donor.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Scholarships/Awards

These are awarded to students who have contributed significantly to Co-Curricular Activities in the Polytechnic. Leadership qualities and academic performance are also taken into consideration in the selection process.

Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded to students who require financial assistance to continue their course of study at the Polytechnic. Students requiring financial assistance for their education are strongly advised to take up the Tuition Fee Loan Scheme from DBS Bank which provides a loan of up to 75% of the Tuition Fees. Should they require additional financial assistance, they may apply for the most suitable bursary available to them. There are a number of bursary schemes available and each scheme has its own eligibility criteria. As a general rule, students may only receive one bursary for each academic year. Students are advised to approach the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC) for advice on financial assistance. A list of some of the bursaries available and the eligibility criteria is given in the table below:
