Why do I need to apply for Interbank GIRO (IBG)?

IBG is an easy and convenient way for students to pay fees to or receive payment from the Polytechnic.

Whose bank account can be used for Interbank GIRO?
|
| |
Collection or Payment transactions between the student and the Polytechnic can be deducted from or pay to the student’s or parent’s / guardian’s savings/current account with IBG participating banks.

Is the arrangement to pay by GIRO for my secondary school fees still valid for paying the Polytechnic's student fees?

No, you have to fill up a new application form to authorise your bank to pay to Temasek Polytechnic.

Can trustee’s account or fixed deposit account be used for IBG?
|
| |
No, only saving or current account can be used.

How do I apply for IBG?
|
| |
If you are a new student enrolled to the Polytechnic in this semester, you are required to submit the Application for Interbank GIRO Form (Peach – coloured form) together with your enrolment forms.
If you are an existing student, you can download the form from Application for Interbank GIRO Form and submit the completed form either by mail to Student Finance & Collection Section, Finance & Administration Department, Temasek Polytechnic @ One Stop Service Centre, 21 Tampines Ave 1, Singapore 529757 or by hand at the Finance & Administration Department @ One Stop Service Centre located at Administration Block 9, level 2 Lobby C.
This form is to authorise the Polytechnic to deduct the fees payable by you directly from your authorized bank account through the Interbank Giro (IBG). It also serves as your standing instruction to the Polytechnic to pay all monies due to you (if applicable) to the same bank account.
Before submission, please read carefully the important notes stated on the form and note that if your authorised bank account is :
- operated by signature
- to sign as per the specimen signature(s) maintained at the bank. - for joint account where 2 signatures are required, both account holders are to sign on the application form.
| - operated by thumbprint
- the bank account holder has to visit the bank personally to obtain the bank's verification on the thumbprint and endorsement on the application form.

If my Financial Scheme is approved and the Financial Scheme Organisation pays to the Polytechnic after I have paid my fees, how will I get the refund from the Polytechnic?

Upon receipt of the fund from the Financial Scheme Organisation, the Polytechnic will work out the excess amount you have paid and refund it to the bank account you have specified in the Application for Interbank GIRO Form (Peach - coloured form). If you do not have an approved IBG arrangement with the Polytechnic, a cheque will be issued to you.

I am an Existing student before April 09 intake, if the Financial Scheme Organisation pays the Polytechnic after I have paid the fees, how will I get the refund?

You have to submit the Student Direct Credit Authorisation Form (Green – coloured form) to the Polytechnic. Refund will be made to the bank account stated on the form. You can collect the form at our Collection counter in Finance & Administration Department@One - Stop Service Centre.
Before submission, please note:
| i. | You are required to sign on the form. | | ii. | your parent / guardian is required to sign on the form and their particulars are stated on the form in Part B. Their signatures are not required If you are above 21 years old or an International Student | | iii. | attach a photocopy of either the front page of the bank book or extract of bank statement showing the bank account name and account number. Do not submit the bank balance. |
If you do not submit the above form to the Polytechnic,a cheque will be issued to you.

Can I use correction fluid to amend my IBG application form?
|

No, you are NOT allowed to use correction fluid to make amendments on the application form. Error should be crossed out neatly and amendments should be written next to it and signed by the account holder.

I am a new student and intend to enclose cheque / cashier's order / bank draft with my enrolment forms to the Polytechnic, do I still need to submit the IBG application form?

Yes, the GIRO deduction arrangement will be applicable for fee deduction from next semester onwards or for payment to be made to you by the Polytechnic, if any.

As I am a new International student not residing in Singapore , I do not have any bank account in Singapore, do I still need to submit the IBG application form?

Yes, please open a bank account with a GIRO participating bank in Singapore after you have arrived here. After opening the bank account, you are to complete and submit the IBG application form to Finance & Adminstration Department @ One Stop Service Centre located at Administration Block 9, Level 2, Lobby C by Monday, 30 Apr 2012. The form will be submitted for bank processing. If it is approved, the approved IBG account will be shown on the tax invoice.

How do I know which bank account my fees will be deducted from?
|

The approved bank account is shown on the tax invoice which will be sent by the Polytechnic to you about two weeks before the fee due date. You can also view your bank account at Student Finance Web Enquiry application website.
If the bank account is not approved, you will have to pay your fees by one of the payment modes mentioned in Question 5 in Payment of Fees.

Can I change or terminate my IBG arrangement after the application?
|

Yes, you can request to change or terminate the bank account of your IBG arrangement at : a. Finance & Adminstration Department @ One Stop Service Centre or b. your bank
Please do NOT change or terminate your bank account for fee deduction once you receive the tax invoice from the Polytechnic as it will not be in time for the Polytechnic to stop the fee deduction from your bank account for that semester.
The closing date for changing or terminating your IBG arrangement to effect the fee deduction is:

When must I get ready the money in my bank account for GIRO deduction?

To allow successful Giro fee deduction from your authorized bank account, please ensure that sufficient fund balance is kept in your bank account on fee deduction date shown on the tax invoice. No receipt is issued for Giro payment.

If my GIRO deduction is unsuccessful due to insufficient fund, will the Polytechnic try to deduct it through IBG again?
|

No, there is only ONE GIRO deduction in each semester. You can either make payment at Finance & Adminstration Department @ One Stop Service Centre or mail your cheque to the Polytechnic.

Do I need to cancel my GIRO authorisation if I withdraw from my course of study?
|
| |
Yes, you are required to cancel your GIRO authorisation with your bank if you withdraw from your course of study.
