Centres of Excellence

A key cornerstone of TP's educational philosophy is preparing students to be industry relevant. Our facilities on campus are developed to simulate up-to-date industry operations and some take the form of Centres of Excellence that are developed in collaboration with industry. Besides giving our students the opportunity for hands-on learning, these facilities also enable us to provide consultancy services and collaborate on joint projects with our industry partners.

Following the successful implementation of Competency Units (CUs) within the School of Engineering (ENG) several years ago, the School has expanded on the scope and functions of these CUs. This revision has enabled our CUs to assume a higher level of responsibility and commitment to our strategic partners.

Since then, progress and growth have brought ENG to another juncture of rationalisation – that of clustering relevant competency units to form 7 centres. These centres aim to enable ENG to contribute to, and play more significant roles in, technology areas that are in line with national initiatives and emphases.
