The content coverage for the subjects indicated in the ‘Life Sciences Fundamentals’ cluster provides basic understanding and appreciation of the importance and impact of life sciences on mankind in areas such as human nutrition and diseases, drug and medication, gene cloning and genetically modified food. The ‘Life Sciences Fundamentals’ offers you four subjects such as Basics of Nutrition, Life Sciences and You, Over The Counter Medication and Human Health and Diseases so as to enable you to make better informed decisions in your personal life and that of the community.

Life ScienceThis subject introduces the key nutrients found in food and their role in relation to health. Nutritive values of various types of food will also be discussed.

Life Sciences & You

This subject is designed to create an awareness of the life sciences, its applications and impact on the lives of people. It will cover the current developments in the different areas of the life sciences as well as the related legal, social, moral and ethical issues and implications.

Human Health & Diseases

This subject provides you with the fundamental and up-to-date information on human health and disease. It covers the common non-infectious diseases and infectious diseases as well as their diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

Introduction to Over-The-Counter (OTC) Medication

This subject provides you with an overview of over-the-counter (OTC) medication and equips you with an understanding of responsible and proper self-medication for common minor ailments.
