The Temasek Humanities & Social Sciences School, the newest school in the polytechnic, currently offers 2 full-time diploma courses:
Launched in April 2008, the Diploma in Psychology Studies provides a broad foundation in the study of human mind and behaviour. Through niche electives, students can also specialize in an area of interest (such as Human Capital Management, and Educational & Child Psychology), which prepares them for a variety of careers as well as further studies.
The school will offer its second diploma, the Diploma in Gerontological Management Studies, in April 2009. This multi-disciplinary programme equips students with the expertise to service the needs of an active ageing population, in response to an emerging multi-billion dollar silver industry in Singapore.
The school also has a polywide presence through the various Cross Disciplinary Subjects (CDS) it offers.
With its mission to create and deliver learning experiences for students to explore beyond their diploma specialisations, the school offers a broad spectrum of CDS. Subject areas include foreign languages/cultures (e.g. French, Italian and Japanese), creative arts (e.g. Music, Art and Theatre), cognitive and social sciences (e.g. Psychology, Sociology), and global awareness (e.g. Global Citizenship, World Issues).
As a new school that is growing, the Temasek Humanities & Social Sciences School is committed to provide innovative and high-quality curricula to respond to the need for a relevant and broad-based education. Future plans involve the development and offering of new courses in the humanities and social sciences.
