Temasek Applied Science School offers seven courses in the chemical and life sciences. It aims to nurture a passion for science and research in our students, and prepare them for a rewarding career in the vibrant chemical and life sciences industry.
The School’s ability-driven curriculum strives to develop competence, character and change-readiness, to enable students to stay relevant and competitive in a rapidly changing world. This is achieved through a variety of means, including Problem-based Learning (PBL), e-Learning, and project and research work.
Through PBL, students will develop critical thinking, interpersonal and problem-solving skills that are vital for success in the dynamic global economy. Its strong emphasis on hands-on application means that students will have the chance to integrate and apply their knowledge and skills in a real work environment.
The School also keenly encourages participation in competitions and involvement in a spectrum of research projects. Some of its niche areas of research are: traditional Chinese medicine, membrane technology, plant biotechnology, proteomics, nanotechnology, baking science and technology, hydroponics and nutritional assessment.
The School also provides online delivery of various subjects in the form of interactive course materials and e-lectures. This enables students to access online resources at their own pace and convenience. Cross-disciplinary subjects as well as core subjects such as applied principles for effective living and communication skills, will ensure that students have a broad-based and holistic education.
