Introduction
This 1-day course is designed for logistics professionals to gain confidence in the decision-making process and business planning for growth. The course will cover data trend analysis, linear regression, decision-tree and assignment issue.
Course Objectives
The course aims to help participants apply business quantitative analysis skills to their work situation. Participants will be engaged in activity-based learning. On successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand and recognize the role and importance of quantitative analysis techniques in the business management
- Apply the appropriate techniques of quantitative analysis and decision-making in the real business situations.
- Demonstrate the skills in handling the data and presenting of the results.
- Gain some ideas to design the research project and approach the problem using the learned techniques.

- Basic probability and normal distribution & sampling distribution
- Confidence interval estimation & Hypothesis testing methodology
- Z test versus t-test & Analysis of variance (ANOVA)
- Simple linear regression & Time-series analysis
- Decision-making tool-kit

Trainer
Mr Johnny Tan - MBA(Hons), BSc
Johnny is currently a Lecturer and has been various subjects in logistics and operations management. He has provided consultancy services to the industry in areas of Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), Project Management, 5S & 7W, Logistics Physical Distribution, Warehousing Operations, Effective Supervision, QCC Facilitation, and etc. Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, he has worked for the past 14 years in various appointments such as Factory Manager, Program Manager and Administration Manager.
