Introduction
This course deals with the concepts, techniques and issues involved in the development of electronic commerce and services for the mobile world (generally referred to as mobile e-commerce or m-commerce). Participants will learn about the fundamental concepts of m-commerce, different m-commerce systems and business models, the technologies and components for enabling m-commerce in business.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe the m-business framework, the m-commerce business models and the business processes that support the models
- Apply the underlying technologies and components to support the m-commerce models and processes
- Design and develop m-commerce applications to meet the changing needs of technologies, business requirements and models
Who Should Attend
Participants who have little or no experience in m-business/m-commerce
Pre-requisites
Basic java programming is an added advantage.

Trainers
Mr Joshua Liew
Mr Joshua Liew graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 1995 with a Second Upper Class Honours degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering (B.Eng). In 1997, He completed his Masters of Science (M.Sc) by research entitled "A Quality of Service Based Satellite Interworking Unit for a Universal Gateway". His M.Sc work was fully sponsored by the Defence Research Agency (UK).
Joshua joined Temasek Polytechnic in May 2004 where he is currently a lecturer in the Temasek Information Technology School and teaching subjects in the Diploma for Mobile Wireless Computing.
Before joining Temasek Polytechnic, Joshua was doing research & development at the Institute for Infocomm Research (then known as the Centre for Wireless Communications) since October 1997. In the last 3 years at I2R, he managed several successfully completed major projects including two million-dollar projects with Siemens.
He has co-authored several papers and has one patent under his name. His current research interests include Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, Self-Organising Networks, Robust Header Compression and wireless networking performance improvement protocols.
Mr Tan Kheng Leong
Mr Tan Kheng Leong graduated from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore in 1996 with a Second Lower Class Honours degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering (B.Eng). In 2003, He completed his Masters in Technology (MTech) from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Kheng Leong joined Temasek Polytechnic in Nov 2004 where he is currently a lecturer in the Temasek Info Tech School and teaching subjects in the Diploma for Mobile Wireless Computing.
Before joining Temasek Polytechnic, Kheng Leong was with Hewlett Packard for 4 years under its Consulting and Integration Division as a solution architect. He was involved in a number of telecommunication projects providing solutions to mobile enable the services provided by telecommunication operator. He also work on a few projects with the local ministries to mobile-enabled their field officers to operate effectively and efficiently from the field using latest mobile technologies.
