Synopsis

This course specifies a range of skills and knowledge required by persons in a managerial role of a retail environment who manages the quality of customer service

Objective(s)

  • Plan and implement sales presentations
  • Develop system to manage customer relations
  • Maintain and improve quality of customer relations management system

Who Should Attend

Area Manager, Operations Manager, Merchandise Manager, Chain Store Manager, Department Manager, Station Manager, Marketing Manager and Commercial Manager.

Pre-requisites

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant retailing experience at least at supervisory level, or Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision, or equivalent.
  • Ability to handle most reading and writing tasks related to life roles, and able to read, write and interpret simplified/ non-simplified materials.
  • Able to participate effectively in practical and social conversations.
  • Ability to do calculations, interpret routine charts and graphs.
    (ie. Singapore Employability & Skills System level 8 literacy and level 7 numeracy abilities)

Outline

  • Select products for presentation to appeal to target market
  • Demonstrate products for buying desire
  • Evaluate and review product presentation
  • Manage the customer relations management system
  • Evaluate and monitor customer relations against standards

Optimum Class Size

15 to 25 participants

Delivery Methodology

A combination of lectures, tutorials, discussions, case studies, role plays and practical exercises.

Assessment

  • Practical demonstration either in a real or simulated setting
  • Questions - oral or written
  • Presentation
  • Projects

Course Structure

To gain the qualification of WSQ Diploma in Retail Management, a total of 15 units must be completed. At least 9 of these must be core units, and at least 5 elective must be completed. Participants may select up to 2 elective units from the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision.

Certification

Participants who have completed this unit will be issued with a Statement of Attainment identifying the unit completed. Completion of this unit will count towards fulfilling the requirements of the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision or WSQ Diploma in Retail Management, subject to the course structure.

Training Pathway

The WSQ Diploma in Retail Management builds on the skills developed in the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision and provides a pathway from vocational education to higher education.
