Synopsis

This course aims at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills in team leadership.

Who Should Attend

Retail supervisors, supervisors, frontline managers, senior cashier, team leader, senior sales assistant, store manager, assistant branch manager, forecourt captain / station supervisor.

Pre-requisites

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant retailing experience, or Certificate in Retail Operations, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret simplified/ non-simplified materials on familiar topics.
  • Ability to do calculations, interpret routine charts and graphs.
    (ie. Singapore Employability & Skills System level 6 literacy and numeracy abilities)

Outline

  • Understand organisation policies, codes of conduct and values
  • Induce new staff, train and upgrade staff
  • Coach and evaluate performance against team standards
  • Motivate and reward staff
  • Establish systems and procedures to enhance productivity

Optimum Class Size

15 to 25 participants

Delivery Methodology

A combination of lectures, tutorials, discussions, case studies, role plays and practical exercises.

Assessment

  • Practical demonstration either in a real or simulated setting
  • Questions - oral or written
  • Role play
  • Project

Course Structure

To gain the qualification of WSQ Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision, a total of 11 units must be completed. At least 8 of these must be core units, and at least 2 elective must be completed. Participants may select up to 2 elective units from the WSQ Diploma in Retail Management.

Certification

Participants who have completed this unit will be issued with a Statement of Attainment identifying the unit completed. Completion of this unit will count towards fulfilling the requirements of the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision or WSQ Diploma in Retail Management, subject to the course structure.

Training Pathway

The WSQ Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision builds on the skills developed in the WSQ Certificate in Retail Operations and provides a pathway to the WSQ Diploma in Retail Management.

One unit completed in the WSQ Advanced Certificate in Retail Supervision may also be counted towards the completion requirements for the WSQ Diploma in Retail Management qualification.
