Engineering students win Special Award

The IFM students with their Supervisor

A team of students from the Diploma in Integrated Facility Management (IFM) won the IES Special Award – an award for students presented under the banner of the IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award.

In their winning project, entitled "Green and Sustainable Buildings: For Our Future", the IFM students applied their facilities management knowledge and tools to help their former secondary schools to achieve the Green Mark certification for environmentally friendly buildings.  They had carried out their project in 3 stages: firstly by performing a gap analysis to identify the shortfalls in each school's environmental policies and infrastructure; secondly, by making recommendations to the school's management and helping to implement new measures; and thirdly, by raising the environmental awareness of the school community by conducting their self-designed workshop, entitled "Green Our Little Red Dot (GOL.D)".

The team successfully helped 4 schools – all of which are their alma mater – to achieve the Green Mark Certification: Serangoon Gardens Sec School, Chung Cheng High (Main), Da Qiao Pri School, and Hong Wen Pri School.

The IFM students received their award at a presentation ceremony held in conjunction with the National Engineers Summit on 20 July 2017.
